Casa del Herrero, or the “House of the Blacksmith,” was built in 1925 by George Washington Smith for St. Louis industrialist George Fox Steedman.  The Casa is noted as one of the finest examples of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture and in 2009 was designated a National Historic Landmark by the US Secretary of the Interior. Inside you will find a collection of authentic Spanish artifacts from the 14^th through 19^th centuries, and surrounding this elegant Andalusian-style farmhouse are its enchanting Mediterranean gardens.  90-minute Docent-led tours are offered Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10 AM or 2 PM, mid-February through mid-November by advance reservation only.
