Cheri Rae Joins the Santa Barbara View

Re-posting exciting news… the Santa Barbara View is pleased to announce that award-winning writer Cheri Rae has joined the staff as senior editor and columnist.

cKnown for her civic activism and insightful chronicles of the local scene, Cheri has a hard-won reputation for writing about issues that other Santa Barbara-based writers are reluctant to tackle.

“I’m delighted to add my perspective to the Santa Barbara View,” stated Cheri Rae. “My specialty is researching and revealing the untold stories of Santa Barbara and I look forward to sharing them with the site’s thoughtful audience.”

The Santa Barbara View is the region’s fastest growing website and Santa Barbara’s online home for information, commentary, and conversation. It’s a website for informed opinion writing and thoughtful analysis about the stories, events, and people that shape Santa Barbara. www.sbview.com

From 2007 to 2009, Cheri shared her unique citizen’s eye view of the region as a columnist for the Santa Barbara Daily Sound. In 2009, her work was recognized by the California Newspaper Publishers Association, which awarded her first-place honors in the Best Newspaper Column category.

Before concentrating on her writing, Cheri had a successful career as a magazine editor with stints at Surfer, Runner’s World and Bicycle Sport. In Santa Barbara, she served as editor for her own Olympus Press, publishing nature and outdoor recreation books as well as custom books.

Deftly covering both lively local issues and national ones, Cheri has contributed to most of the region’s magazines and newspapers, from the Los Angeles Times to the Santa Barbara Independent.

The Santa Barbara View is pleased to welcome Cheri Rae.

Hurrah! I look forward to some thoughtful – and thought-inducing columns. SB seems to be so quiet, even the full-time-pay city council has taken this week and next week off.

Congradulations to S.B. View. Cheri’s writing always goes to the point of the issue she is writing about. She is passionate about our local community and is not afraid to speak out were other’s fear to tread. We need more reporters like Cheri and S.B. would be a better place for children to live. She is not influenced by local politics she stands up for the rights of others, who can not advocate for themselves.

“When good people stay silent bad things happen” right Cheri

What a good move for SB View to bring on board a journalist as brave and talented as Cheri. I truly look forward to reading her fact-based and fearless reporting and opinionizing. There just isn’t enough of that sort of coverage in this community, so I’m glad there is now a new venue.

Thank you, Cheri, for returning with you insightful articles on what is going on in Santa Barbara. I will have to check every day to read what your latest comments. You should be a candidate for City Council if Das goes to Sacramento.
