If only we had a Target in Santa Barbara–or maybe Goleta–we might run into the First Lady. But she’d have to get rid of the plastic bag.

    Id really really really like to have a Target! How can we have KMart and Sears but not a Target :-(

    The locals who have stopped Target have really missed the mark. Love that the classy First Lady snuck out to shop at Target, setting a good example for thrift and good value. Wish we could do that here, without driving to another community and spending our dollars there.

    From what I’ve seen of Target in Santa Maria it’s just another big box. How many big boxes does this area “need”? We’ve got Sears, K-Mart, CostCo, Marshalls, Ross; apparently, the time of the local stores is dead.

    By the way, this is an AP photo ((Charles Dharapak/AP)) that appeared in the Washington Post and elsewhere but probably copyrighted by the AP; given the amount of criticism of edhat’s “aggregation” I would have expected the Santa Barbara View to give the credit.
