Grant House Did Not Write Letter About President Obama Published by Santa Barbara Independent on June 2

“Good morning Cheri Rae, Thank you for taking my call and for your sage advice.  This is the note I sent to the Independent this morning.  I appreciate your assistance in getting the word out to your readers.” – Grant

Santa Barbara View has confirmed with the Independent and Grant House that the letter was written by Grant Marcus and House was inadvertently typed in by the Independent.

I did not write the letter “Ex- I have asked Indy staff for their assistance in straightening this out. Please tell your friends that Grant House did not go off the deep end. I am horrified that this was published in my name and even more so if anyone were to believe it came from me. Grant House, Councilmember, City of Santa Barbara

  1. House call

The letter speaks for many similarly disaffected former Democrats. The content was plausible. even if the authorship was mistaken. This was a grievious journalistic error for the Independent to publish, but their laxness in journalistic ethics has shown no restraint in the past so why should they have bothered fact checking this time. I am glad the real Grant House got the chance to stop this now; yet the message remains resonate.

Why isn’t there a retraction-aplology on the Indy website in 10 inch headlines? Egregious

  3. Grant, I was hoping the letter came from you. I wanted to believe the letter came from you. I was hoping you had finally changed. Sigh.

  4. roflol – well, at the least it was a great headline, House Casts Stones!

Sherry is the most trustworthy reporter in SB! Amen

  6. It still does not, and should not, distract from the truth.

  7. Grant, like X-Dem, I was also hoping it had come from you and that at least some in the community were tired of the hypocrisy in politics and were not afraid to say so.
