Pedestrian Crosswalk Stings in Santa Barbara

Tomorrow, the Santa Barbara Police Department will be conducting another pedestrian crosswalk sting. The sting will take place on Milpas Street where it crosses Ortega and Yanonali streets. A similarly-staged event last year produced 60 citations in one day! These undercover operations lead to the Santa Barbara View question of the week:

    Would it be so difficult to add “to catch drivers who do not yield to pedestrians” to your term “crosswalk sting”? Readers might think the sting is directed against pedestrians who cross against the red pedestrian light… Just because you and your colleagues are familiar with the term crosswalk sting does not mean all readers are.
