Questions for the Candidates: District Elections

What is your position on the issue of district elections in Santa Barbara?

Iya Falcone, candidate for Santa Barbara City Council

“I fear that district elections will cause the focus of the elected policy makers to narrow too much which I believe will result in an unhealthy provincial perspective. I feel Santa Barbara, still being a small town, is best served when its elected representatives take the larger overall view of what is best for the whole, not just the area that elected them. Santa Barbara policy makers should remain in touch with its entire community.”

She should have clarified in her last line, “…the entire Democratic Party community.” Because Iya Falcone is probably the most partisan candidate on the ballot.

Chalk up yet another winning position for Iya over Byrne on this one. District elections are developer’s dream and represents the Los Angelization of Santa Barbara.

i feel we are still paying for the last time you held office . This time if you take office again where would we get the money for you to toss up in the air and hope it hits something ? I think we need ten more year to make up for the last time you were in office before you come in to spend 140.000 for every 100.000 the city takes in again . hey big spender give sb a chance . go hide in the corner and read a good book .
