What current breakfast cafe was once the home of the famous Flying A Studio?

Answer: Garrett’s Old Fashion Restaurant

Back story: Garrett’s sits on the lot of the old Flying A Studios which during its time was the first major movie studio in California. More than 1,000 films, mostly westerns, were produced on the corner and Mission and State Street from 1912 to 1921. Santa Barbara geography was considered perfect for filming movies.

    I want to point out the buildings on the corner of Mission and State date from the 1940′s when most of. the Flying A studio were bulldozed, The corner was the site of the first McConnell’s ice cream store and factory. The building on the corner of Mission and Chapala is part of the original studio.
