California has lost a piece of gold with the passing of Huell Howser. The friendly television host loved Santa Barbara, and once spoke of wanting to live here. Howser did many features in the region from the Orchid Show and the historic Old Mission to San Marcos Pass and this condensed profile of the Ablitt House. RIP Heull Howser.

A good man and a great show that showcased the regular person and made them seem extraordinary.
Huell Howser was a wonderful person. We saw his shows on television. He went to so many beautiful places. My husband and I saw him leaving the orchid show last year. What a sad loss.
