Prep Football Profile and Post…

royalsPrep football is back with a partial slate of games. The defending City Champion San Marcos Royals take the field tonight (7 pm) at historic Valley Stadium to square off against Cabrillo. The Royals laid claim to their 15th City Championship in 2009 after handily beating both cross-town rivals, the Santa Barbara Dons and Dos Pueblos Chargers.

This year’s team is set at the skill positions with two-way stars John Kim at running back and Victor Mendez at receiver. A San Marcos insider expects junior Gabe Loza to unseat the two seniors ahead of him at quarterback by mid season. The veteran coaching staff of Jeff Hesselmeyer and Ed Holdren have a relatively young squad, but the Royals are poised to take home another City Championship in 2010.

Editor’s Updates: The Santa Barbara High School Dons impressively defeated the Channel Island Raiders 17 – 0. It’s the first win for off-campus coach Jaime Melgoza who received a Gatorade shower after the Dons victory. The Dos Pueblos Chargers went down to defeat in their home opener, losing 7-3 to the Righetti Warriors. The San Marcos Royals disappoint at home, falling to the Cabrillo Conquistadors 28-6.

I know this is a San Marcos homer web site, but could you please have a little less bias? If you want this to truly be a community web site, you need to set aside your favoritism and act the same to all the high schools in the area. How about Bishop being ranked? How about the tradition of Carp?
At least back up your opinion. Why is San Marcos poised to win the city championship? DP doesn’t return a lot of starters? Has SB improved?

Waaaaa! I love it. SMHS get’s pinch of pub and Harry the Homer freaks! If you want to read all about DP, Homer, continue reading the News Press. There’s your bias.

It is a community site, just log in, scroll up and create a public post discussing Bishop, Carp or whatever you like. Try posting a critical comment similar to yours on other “community” sites and you’ll find yourself banned for good…now that’s the kind of community we need less of.

Living in Goleta I don’t care for Mickey Marcos but this is one instance where I do like the biased coverage. Not sure if its supposed to be but its actually funny and should get Mabel and Royals Guy stirred up. You can’t play sports down the middle. Go Chargers!

This website used to be my homepage. I will never visit this site again after seeing that disgusting tribute to SM

No joke … the editor got stuck going to the ugly school and he’s been bitter ever since.

  8. Missing Comment September 3, 2010 at 10:55 pm #

Editor mistakenly lost this quality comment. Unintentional. Beleaguered Editor over-tinkered to compensate. Sincerest apologies. Feedback heard…

I can’t believe the people in this town and their allegiances to their old high schools. Back when most of you were in HS, you had no choice as to what school you went to, it was geographically based. Your allegiance is based upon where you happened to live at that time. Don’t any of you ever grow up? These rivalries kind of crack me up and kind of scare me at the same time. Reminds me of the Eastside/Westside gang fights, but without the knives.

how does that city championship look now Mr. Editor?

  12. DOrf September 7, 2010 at 2:49 pm #

These are kids playing sports with friends on opposing teams. I hope that people can actually gain a little perspective and allow the kids to enjoy the games and compete!! It is amazing that adults can have such a horrible perspective. Go Royals , Dons and Chargers!!!!

DOrf, If I’ve told him once, I’ve told him a million times … the editor jinxes his alma mater everytime with his pettiness! What can ya do?
