I think it’s lame the way you guys tweet out the copyright. That’s just weird and cheesy. Take it easy.
I think the point of this comic to is try to make us feel hypocritical for our lack of compassion throughout the rest of the year. I don’t. Most of the homeless here have made a conscious lifestyle choice that I don’t agree with.
Santa Barbara is actually a haven for the homeless all year round.
Shouldn’t there be a brown paper bag filled with beverage of choice in the January drawing as a result from getting money in December?
Better at Christmas, the time of giving, than never. I may not agree with the lifestyle choice, but also have no doubt that my life is richer (literally and figuratively) than theirs….
I disagree with the cartoon wholeheartedly. First where’s the month with the cop and the ride along media machine ready to make the homeless situation another talking point for more police. Second…How many of our panhandlers sit there quietly in the corner with their sign? None! They’re always the arrogant, aggressive, and disrespectful type that deserve to be ignored! Third… We do have our share of the entitled sort here in town, but overall I’ve seen a genuine sense of community here in good old Santa Barbara. I know I’ll continue to do my best to look out for the less fortunate… But I’m sick and tired of the continuous exploitation of charity and government programs…
People in this town give SO MUCH MONEY to panhandlers and homeless in this city. If anything, Santa Barbaran’s are too giving. Anyone who has worked on State Street or downtown as I have can vouch for the fact that the vast majority of money given to them goes to drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes.
With the amount of food banks and social services, along with the shelter, nobody in Santa Barbara is going hungry.
Isn’t this an every Thanksgiving story too. I give 10% to Charity… I wonder how much the cartoon artist, the media and others that promote and use the homeless for their various agendas actually give. My guess… a few cents at Christmas.
