A United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket carrying the 6,133-pound Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM) spacecraft is scheduled for launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base this morning. You can watch the launch live on Santa Barbara View. Liftoff from Space Launch Complex 3 (SLC-3) is planned for between 10:02 and 10:50 a.m.
The launch of an $855 million mission to observe the planet, was successful and booms were heard throughout Santa Barbara County shortly after 10 a.m.
Below is the video reply of today’s important launch:
At liftoff, the Atlas 5 rocket will rise vertically from SLC-3 for several seconds before it slowly begins to pitch over and head toward the south. Under very good conditions, the first stage flame may be visible to the naked eye as far away as Carpinteria. Once deployed the LDCM spacecraft will study tropical deforestation, urban expansion, natural disasters and subsequent recovery of the landscape, glacial retreat and freshwater resources for agriculture.

Increible! Want to watch a live blastoff watch one of these days in Lompoc
Even a missile launch requires a PC speech now…
